HAYNES 5 & 6 REPOWERING PROJECT

This EPC replaced two of seven units in an existing, 1960s-era power plant with six 100-MW advanced technology gas turbines to provide fast-start capability (up to full load in 10 minutes). Work at the 1,600-MW facility included installation of dry cooling gas compressors, electrical transformers and switching equipment — eliminating the need for the previous ocean water cooling system.

MEC managed the installation of conduit, wire and equipment associated with site temporary power. The work included approximately 5,000 linear feet of duct bank, 5kV and 600V wiring, four large transformers and six distribution panels.
