This EPC included a new 2×1 combined-cycle, natural gas-fired power plant and a four-breaker, radial bus configuration switchyard. Featuring two GE 7HA.02 combustion turbine generators with duct firing and wet cooling, two heat recovery steam generators and one steam turbine, the 1050-MW plant is roughly 30% more efficient than facilities with conventional technologies. It generates enough electricity to power more than 1 million homes.
MEC managed design and construction of the 500kV transmitting switchyard — including a three-breaker ring bus — and the collector 500kV switchyard, which included three GSU connections.
