A Special Christmas for Some Displaced Families
It's a year in the works - fifty-two Friday's collecting $1 from MEC employees in the Waltham, Massachusetts office, culminating in two days of shopping to bring the Holidays to families living in transitional house in Boston, Massachusetts. This year a total of $4,341 was raised and several gifts and food items were donated to eleven families in the transitional home. MEC employees all agreed this is one tradition that will be continued for many years to come.
MEC Hits a Home Run to Help Easter Seals
On Saturday, August 12, 2017, MEC employees played in the Easter Seals of Massachusetts (Easter Seals MA) Annual Softball Tournament. While our team didn't win the game, the Easter Seals of MA won by bringing in some money for their organization - and everyone had a lot of fun! Thank you to our players and the cheerleaders who came out for the afternoon.
9th Annual United Way Golf Tournament - A Hole in One!
MEC held our 9th successful United Way Golf Tournament on June 2017. It was a hot day in Wayland, Massachusetts and over eighty players joined us at the Sandy Burr Country Club for an afternoon of golf, prizes, raffles, and many laughs. In total, we raised $14,365 for the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley. Thanks to our many sponsors for their generous support -
Donation of Laptops to Local High School Helps Students Strive to Be the Best
In February 2016, MEC Transportation's District office in Irving, Texas donated twenty-five refurbished laptops and docking stations valued at $11,250 to Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth, Texas. These computers will have a positive impact on the school, and empower the faculty and students in their classrooms!
Bringing Holiday Cheer to Families in a Transitional Living Program Home
Each Friday employees in MEC Industrial's Waltham district office donate $1.00 for the opportunity to wear jeans to work on Friday. The money that is collected is used to purchase gifts for local families in need. In 2015, over $2,500 was collected and used to purchase items for six families living in an inner-city transitional living home. According to Doreen MacLellan, MEC employee, "We were able to meet the needs and wants of their [the mothers and kids] wish lists, in addition to providing each parent with a $75 gift card and the kids a $25 gift card to spend as they see fit."
