Northbridge 2.6MW Solar Project

Northbridge, Mass.

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) crews installed a 2.6MW ground mounted solar photovoltaic system in Northbridge, MA, on a site previously used for farmland. Working as a subcontractor to Gehrlicher Solar America Corp., MEC installed a total of 9,064 solar modules.

New Haven, Conn. & Boston, Mass.

As part of a joint venture, Mass. Electric Construction Co. completed design verification and construction of Amtrak’s 157-mile electrified high-speed rail segment between New Haven, CT and Boston, MA in 1998. The line included 224 bridges and several tunnels, the longest being the 4,000-foot Back Bay Tunnel in Boston.

Northwest Rail Operating Facility (NWROF) Bid-Build

Dallas, Texas

This bid-build project involved constructing 19 storage tracks, 5 service and inspection tracks and 4 yard leads to support DART’s expanding rail systems.  The work included procurement of the signaling system, overhead catenary system (OCS), and traction electrification system for the storage yard, a service and inspection facility and vehicle wash station.

OCSD Variable Frequency Drives Upgrades Project

Huntington Beach, Calif.

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) completed the OCSD VFD Upgrade project ahead of schedule. The project, which was an update to the twenty year old system, included the removal and replacement of three (3) 350 Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and upgrades to the associated control system for full automation at Plant No. 2.

The Orange Line Phase I – M.I.C. to Earlington Heights Connector project for Miami-Dade County (MDC) was bid on August 1, 2008. Odebrecht-Tower-Community Joint Venture (ODTC) awarded a contract to a Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) led joint venture on April 30, 2009, and issued the Notice to Proceed (NTP) on April 30, 2009, with a contract completion date of April 29, 2012.

MECC is the System Subcontractor to the Kiewit-Eurovia-Vinci Joint venture to extend the existing Ottawa LRT East and West. MECC’s scope includes Supply & Installation of OCS, TPSS and the installation of the CBTC system and communication backbone (including supply of all field cables).

Phoenix Central Mesa Extension

Phoenix, Ariz.

The Central Mesa LRT Extension is a 3.1 mile (Double Track) extension of the existing Central Phoenix/East Valley Light Rail Transit (LRT) line from its eastern terminus at Sycamore and Main Streets in west Mesa to a new terminus at Mesa Drive and Main Street in central Mesa. The project will include four (4) new at grade passenger stations and a park-and-ride facility.

The Portland I-205 Extension Project was  seven miles of light rail double track along the I-205 corridor east of Portland.  As part of Tri-Met’s South Corridor Expansion, an already successful rail network, the project provides MAX Green Line Light rail service by connecting to the existing transit center at Gateway and proceeding south into Clackamas County along a dedicated rail right of way.

The Portland Transit Mall project was a 3 mile light rail project located in the center of downtown Portland.  As part of Tri-Met’s South Corridor Expansion of an already successful rail network the project will add MAX green line light rail service to the transit mall by connecting the existing green line crossing Steel Bridge  and making a loop along 5th and 6th avenues.
