MEC has been working in the renewable energy markets since the 1990s when we first participated in an electric car implementation study using solar panels and recharge stations. With today’s demands for renewable energies, we continue to pioneer the field with a number of projects including bio-fuel plants, wind turbines, and solar thermal and solar PV installations.
Further, we are helping to shape the future of renewable energy by working with battery storage developers at early stages of implementation.
Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) began work on a 2.1MW solar project in West Greenwich, Rhode Island in April 2013. This was the first solar project installation completed by MEC during the winter, and snow and ice were a major concern when it came to safety. Weather also played a major factor in how much trench could be open at one time, because snow could melt in the trench and freeze any installed conduit. Correct ordering of materials and scheduling crews were instrumental in the completion of this project on time.
Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) crews installed a 2.6MW ground mounted solar photovoltaic system in Northbridge, MA, on a site previously used for farmland. Working as a subcontractor to Gehrlicher Solar America Corp., MEC installed a total of 9,064 solar modules.
Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) crews worked on the installation of a 2.5MW ground mounted solar photovoltaic system in North Brookfield, MA. Working as a subcontractor for Gehrlicher Solar America Corp.
Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) electrical crews from IBEW Locals 7 & 103 completed the installation of a 1.2MW ground mounted solar photovoltaic system in Palmer, Mass.
Beginning June 4, 2012 Mass. Electric Construction Co (MEC) crews worked on the installation of a 3.3MW ground mounted solar photovoltaic system in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Groveland Solar Project is a 3.6 MW solar farm on approximately 25 acres of land located in Groveland, Massachusetts. Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) self-performed all the duct work, cable pulling, building racking systems, terminating cable wires including six inverters and the 15 kV power, and installed 12,672 solar modules.
In April 2012 Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) began installation of a roof-mounted solar system on the Milton Academy ACC Building. The project consists of the design and installation of a 192.27 kWp solar power system. The system will operate parallel to the utility supply, and will offset the amount of daily power sourced by the facility.
Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) crews were awarded a contract to install a 770 KW roof mounted PV system on the Waltham High School, in Waltham, Massachusetts.
On April 11, 2006, a Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) led joint venture was awarded a contract for the electrical wiring and setting of a 248-foot, 6,660kW turbine for Mass Maritime Academy.
On the morning of May 5, 2005, a MEC crew met outside the Local Union Hall in Dorchester, MA to begin the two day installation of a 149 foot tall, 100 kW wind turbine.
