Portland Mall - Portland, Ore.
The Portland Transit Mall project was a 3 mile light rail project located in the center of downtown Portland. As part of Tri-Met’s South Corridor Expansion of an already successful rail network the project will add MAX green line light rail service to the transit mall by connecting the existing green line crossing Steel Bridge and making a loop along 5th and 6th avenues.
This project involved the installation of the systems elements to support the new light rail. MEC’s scope of work included 87 OCS poles, 27,500 LF of OCS contact wire, 4 traction power substations, 4 signal interlocking, 4 light rail/streetcar crossings, 4 light rail intersection crossings, 86,000 LF of fiber optic cable, and communication devices and electrical work at 12 passenger stations.
