CATS South Corridor LRT Electrification System - Charlotte, N.C.

The Grand Opening of the first phase of the TECO Line Streetcar System took place on Saturday, October 19, 2002. The line is a 2.3 mile section of double and single track that connects the downtown area with the Channelside district and historic Ybor City.

As part of its $3 Million contract with Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART), Mass. Electric Construction Co. performed the installation of the overhead contact system for the entire line as well as the storage and maintenance facility. MEC installed a traction power substation in the maintenance facility.
