P1-105 Headworks Rehabilitation & Expansion

Fountain Valley, California

This expansive rehabilitation of an existing wastewater treatment facility includes upgrades to improve the resiliency of the primary electrical system. A key project component, electrical work involved expanding and diversifying the existing backup power system for fewer disruptions, better safeguards and enhanced resiliency.

The overall project entailed demolition of the original headworks and unused chlorine pumps, in addition to plant-wide upgrades to areas including:

• Metering and diversion structure
• Headworks standby generator building
• Main sewage pump station
• Grit basins
• Power building and headworks electrical room
• Headworks odor control scrubbers
• Bar screen and bin loading building
