WATSON GENERATING STATION
Braintree, Massachusetts
MEC was the prime electrical subcontractor for this 116-MW generating station built on 2 acres of land adjacent to an existing power plant. Two 50-MW gas turbine generators connected to two 70-MVA transformers (GSUs) — all owner-supplied — feed the power grid at 115kV.
MEC’s work included installation of:
- 15kV switches
- Service station transformers
- Medium-voltage starters for gas compressors
- Four 480V switchgear motor control centers
- Structure to house the electrical equipment
- All conduit and wiring (extensive duct banks)
- Ancillary electrical equipment
